Myotherapy is a functional, manual therapy that examines the body holistically through a multisystem approach to assessment and treatment, specialising in empowering you to overcome physical dysfunction and pain.
This branch of manual medicine focusses on the assessment, treatment and management of neuro-musculoskeletal pain including myofascial pain (trauma or muscle contracture) neuropathic pain (nervous system) and articular pain (joints).
Some of the results of using myotherapy include increasing your range of movement at a restricted joint, reducing muscle and fascial restrictions, reducing the effects of trigger points, easing your muscular pain and providing stress relief.
Your treatment is about identifying and addressing the underlying causes of musculoskeletal conditions as well as treating symptoms. We will undertake an assessment that incorporates physical and postural evaluation, neurological and functional testing. The hands-on techniques including joint mobilisation, stretching, deep tissue massage, cupping and dry needling – depending on your presentation. We then develop a holistic management plan which may include exercise prescription, diet/nutritional measures, postural awareness, as well as pain management techniques aligned to your goals.
“It is about helping you overcome restricted movement and pain, so you can get back to doing what you enjoy.”
